TEMPE - It's video you'll see only on FOX 10. A man suspected in a public indecency incident is captured, and police are looking into whether he could be linked to other cases in Tempe.
The suspect had a felony warrant out for his arrest -- and he wasn't going to go down without a fight.
Police say 25-year-old Tiberias Foster, who matched the description of a sexual indecency suspect, ran from officers on 3 separate occasions. That's until a canine unit caught up with him, and with FOX 10 cameras rolling, Foster was hauled to the hospital by ambulance.
Investigators asked we not show his face because they don't want to prevent other potential victims from accurately identifying him in a photo spread.
The details of the cases haven't yet been released, but police have linked him to at least one public indecency case. Foster also had an outstanding felony warrant.
Officers made two attempts to arrest him Tuesday, and finally on the third time, an officer spotted him at a Tempe gas station.
Again, he took off.
"We like to train our officers, if they're chasing a suspect and lose him, just stop wherever they last saw the suspect. And that's where we will start our canine search from, because that gives us the best opportunity to find the suspect," says Officer Matt Feddeler.
Police set up a perimeter around a condo complex near Dorsey and Broadway, just southeast of the ASU campus.
"When suspects run from police they dump adrenaline and odor, we like to call it 'fear scent.' our dogs are trained to locate and take us to where that source is coming from," says Feddeler.
A German shepherd named Ares eventually located him hiding in some bushes.
"Once we got there he refused to give up, refused to show his hands. The canine bit him and stayed on the bite until he complied with our orders."
Foster suffered a few bites to his right shoulder and arm, which is why he was hospitalized. So far he's been connected to at least one public sexual indecency case, but again police suspect he's tied to more.
