IN THE PRESS > Seattle police: Suspected serial burglar caught in the act

27 Apr 2011

A man wanted for burglary was caught in the act Tuesday night after he broke into a furniture store in downtown Seattle, police said.

At 11:42 p.m., police responded to a silent alarm at a furniture store in the 3000 block of First Avenue. Police saw movement inside the building and surrounded the store. Officers searched the building and found the man hiding in a crawlspace between the drywall and insulation.

Police recognized the suspect from a bulletin that had been passed around at roll call. The suspect was wanted on a felony warrant for a burglary at a school in the Chinatown International District and is suspected of additional burglaries in the department's West and South precincts, police said.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of burglary as well as the felony warrant.
