VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A Vancouver Police dog is recovering from serious injuries in an emergency animal clinic after being stabbed during a robbery at a gas station on Friday evening.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. police were called out to the Esso on Fraser Street at Marine Drive.

The robber was scared off by a staff member but Teak, a German Shepherd, was slashed with a knife after police tracked the suspect just off Main Street and 52 Ave.

The man was eventually arrested and taken into custody. In a release, Sgt. Randy Fincham says the 20-year-old Vancouver man will likely face charges of robbery, weapons offenses and assaulting a police dog.
